HOME MADE HERBAL COSMETICS

Creating homemade herbal cosmetics is a wonderful way to incorporate natural ingredients into your skincare routine. Here's a guide to making a few herbal cosmetics at home:

1. Herbal Infused Face Oil

Ingredients:

1/2 cup carrier oil (e.g., jojoba oil, almond oil, or olive oil)
2 tablespoons dried herbs (e.g., calendula, chamomile, lavender, or rose petals)

Instructions:

Place the dried herbs in a clean glass jar.
Pour the carrier oil over the herbs, making sure they are fully submerged.
Seal the jar and place it in a warm, sunny spot for 2-4 weeks, shaking it occasionally.
After the infusion period, strain the oil through a cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve to remove the herbs.
Store the infused oil in a clean, dark glass bottle and use it as a face oil or body oil.

2. Herbal Bath Soak

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Epsom salts
1/4 cup dried herbs (e.g., lavender, chamomile, rosemary)
1/4 cup baking soda
10 drops essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

In a bowl, mix the Epsom salts, dried herbs, and baking soda.
Add the essential oil if desired and mix well.
Store the mixture in an airtight container.
To use, add a handful of the mixture to a warm bath and soak for 20-30 minutes.

3. Herbal Face Toner

Ingredients:

1 cup distilled water
1 tablespoon dried herbs (e.g., rose petals, witch hazel, or chamomile)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or witch hazel extract

Instructions:

Bring the distilled water to a boil and add the dried herbs.
Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for 30 minutes.
Strain the herbs and allow the liquid to cool.
Add the apple cider vinegar or witch hazel extract to the cooled herbal water.
Pour the toner into a clean bottle and store it in the refrigerator.
Apply to your face using a cotton pad after cleansing.

4. Herbal Shampoo

Ingredients:

1/2 cup liquid castile soap
1/2 cup distilled water or herbal tea (e.g., chamomile, nettle, or rosemary)
1 teaspoon carrier oil (e.g., jojoba oil, almond oil)
10-15 drops essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

Brew a strong herbal tea using your chosen herbs and let it cool.
In a bottle, mix the liquid castile soap, cooled herbal tea, and carrier oil.
Add essential oil if desired.
Shake well before each use, and apply to wet hair as you would with regular shampoo.

5. Herbal Lip Balm

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon beeswax
1 tablespoon shea butter
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 teaspoon herbal-infused oil (e.g., calendula or lavender-infused oil)
A few drops of essential oil (optional)

Instructions:

In a double boiler, melt the beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil together.
Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the herbal-infused oil and essential oil if using.
Pour the mixture into lip balm tubes or small containers.
Let it cool and harden before use.
